STEPHEN NASHAUN PENDER AKA STEPHAUN ANU

A producer, keyboardist and composer, Stephen “Stephaun Anu” Pender is a Queens, New York native who is self-taught and has been creating music since he was 11 years old. On January 11, 2011 he released his debut album Emotional Dyslexia.

This body of work is comprised of instrumentals, beats, and soundscapes that convey emotions, moods, and ambiance, ultimately telling a story for the listener to interpret. These musical soundscapes reflect his vivid imagination, an imagination inspired by the likes of Chopin, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Sade, Dr. Dre, Pete Rock, DJ Premiere, and Timbaland.

As a member of Yancy and The Breakneck Quartet, a unique collaboration of musicians that came together at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Stephaun Anu helped establish a group who earned their title as the livest hip-hop band in the southeast. He composed a bluesy/jazz fusion hip-hop sound, in which he performed alongside his band members.

Since The Breakneck Quartet parted ways, Stephaun has shifted his focus to production for a multitude of genres such as hip-hop, rock, and pop. He has also created musical backdrops suitable for television, radio, film, and video games. Stephaun Anu is a passionate composer who strives to tell a story and evoke emotion.
